What is the difference between a bar sink faucet and a kitchen sink faucet

Many kitchens feature at least the main sink and a kitchen faucet. It has been like this for many years until recently when new homeowners have started to include a secondary sink with a prep or bar faucet.

But this new style doesn’t suit every kitchen. For starters, it requires plenty of space and a huge budget.

Bar sink faucet usually functions as a workstation, mainly if the kitchen is used by more than one person simultaneously. It increases the versatility of the kitchen as it enables two sinks to function at the same time. The standard sink can be used to wash dishes and other utensils while the faucet is used to prepare vegetables and other cooking ingredients.

Also, if installed correctly, a bar sink faucet may help fix an ineffective kitchen design. When installed with an under-counter beverage freezer and some glassware, it becomes an excellent source for drinks. It can also help reduce traffic from the kitchen and is placed in another room. People don’t have to come to the kitchen to wash fruit or drink a glass of water if a bar sink faucet is installed somewhere in the living room or hallway.

What is the difference between a bar sink faucet and a kitchen sink faucet?

Both bar and kitchen sink faucets are tall, providing enough room to work under the spout.

The main difference between bar sink faucet and main kitchen sink faucet is size. The former is usually smaller.

Kitchen sink faucets tend to project further down into the sink because of the uses of the sink, which is typically washing larger utensils. It also has a wide valve design. A bar sink faucet, while it is the same height as the kitchen sink, it does not extend further down because of the size of the sink. It also has a narrower valve design, which is also a differentiating factor.

The pull-down handle of a kitchen sink faucet is typically around 16 inches. This is the length from the top of the spout arc to the sink deck.

But overall, there is not a massive difference between the two.

When installed at the end of an island or a run of the countertop, the bar sink faucet can be a useful drinks center, especially if you like throwing brunch and soirees.

Characteristics of bar sink faucet

We already know that bar sink faucet are smaller compared to traditional kitchen sink faucets, but what are its other features?

Bar sink faucets are usually designed in single-handle but can also come in two-handle design. The handle has a spray attached to the pipe inside the faucet, so if you use the faucet, you pull the spray down into the sink or out towards you.

The spray heads on bar sink faucets have fingertip controls to allow you to regulate the flow of water.

Some advanced models would respond to your voice and start to run water. You can tell the faucet to dispense a certain amount of water, after which it will stop automatically.

Considerations for choosing a bar sink faucet

There is not much to consider when it comes to buying a bar sink faucet. All you need is a system that matches the faucet of your kitchen sink, which luckily you can find a bar sink faucet in the same store you bought your kitchen sink faucet. This means that you can get a prep faucet that complements your kitchen.

The material of the bar faucet is also another factor to consider. The most common materials are stainless steel and solid brass. They are usually durable and easy to maintain. Stainless steel bar faucets are the more popular of the two materials. Occasionally, you will find a faucet with zinc or plastic alloy. These types tend to be cheaper but have a short lifespan compared to stainless steel and brass faucets.

The finish is also something you may want to look for in the bar faucet. You want something that will work correctly with the rest of your kitchen or wherever you choose to install the faucet. There are lots of varieties of faucet finishes, including brass and traditional polished chrome.
